nutella

I love Nutella so much that I seem to receive a lot of Nutella related gifts... Below, a little print of a Nutella jar from a friend of mine.

Maybe I should considering naming the unborn moose "Nute".

home cooking continued..

Since my return from the motherland, we have been cooking a lot.  We've probably ate more meals at home than we have combined in the past 3 years.  How sad! It was a pretty chill Friday night after a long day of home renovation crap and cleaning. While eating our pasta with prosciutto and peas dinner, we watched the documentary Food, inc. Not so sure that was a such a good pairing. But at least the meal was delicious!

countdown...

While I'm researching for the baby goods, the hubby is getting started on the nursery renovations. Being the clutch couple that we are, I guess we realized time is running out. 3 more months and this baby moose is popping out, whether we're ready or not.

There's so much work to be done.

personal shopper needed..

For baby moose that is.

I finally started doing some research on baby goods - i.e. crib, stroller, car seat, blah blah blah. Someone should start a baby personal shopper gig because there is just way too much stuff out there. We took a trip to buybuybaby for the first time today and I swear, there was a traffic jam in the stroller section.  There were so many options - it was ridiculous.

After hours of online search for a crib, I finally found a modern one I liked on Walmart.com. All the cribs I found cool and good looking were so expensive so I was happy I found one that didn't cost $1000 bucks. The shipment arrived today and thankfully the pieces came intact in the box and didn't look too cheap. Below are all the pieces. Now what? I guess I'll see how it turns out after I* put it together. *I and the hubby.

My first homemade strawberry pie:

Let's hope this pie is edible because I'm bringing it to a BBQ. Maybe I should have tried out the recipe first but .. oh well. My friends can be the guinea pigs.

Reagan is my favorite president..

Did you know that President Ronald Reagan designated July as the National Ice Cream month?! And the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day? In his proclamation, he called for "all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."

I happened to be at the grocery store and well, in honor of national ice cream month and in honor of the baby moose, I did what Reagan told us to do...celebrate!!

Ok, ok, I just happened to be browsing the ice cream section and thought this flavor was funny so I purchased it. At least it is light ice cream and 1/2 the fat. Hopefully, it will taste ok. I think I'm going to have a bowl now.

Obama, you will be my new favorite president if you make any one of the 12 months a National Nutella month. Preferably May since it is my birthday.

show and tell

A forward from my friend Tiff:

Winner of the Homer Simpson look-alike contest:

I sure hope I don't look like Homer after my pregnancy.

and baby moose lin is a ....

hermaphrodite!

During my last doctor's visit in Taipei, he said he was pretty sure it was a boy from the ultrasound. His exact words were "It looks like a boy and I'm never wrong." But given that I was only 15 weeks then, the "scrotums" weren't fully grown so he could not give me an 100% confirmation.

I finally went in for an ultrasound this morning here with my limited medi-cal insurance. I pretty much went in expecting a confirmation that the moose is a boy. But instead, the technician told us she thinks it's a girl! She said she was 80% sure and even added an "it's a girl" note in the ultrasound. Though that is a pretty high percentage, the moose was in a position where she could not get a confirmation for me. So now, I'm back to referring to the moose as "it". Or she-male. Or maybe the weewee is just too small to see (thanks to the father). WTF. Maybe you guys can guess if it's a boy or girl.

baby momma care package...

I received a package today from my friend Tiff in NYC. I loved every bit of it. Thank you Tiff! I believe 'Bossypants' belongs to the BFF so thank you to the BFF as well! Can't wait to polish off the bacon peanut brittles while reading Bossypants!

Bieber fever..

The godson's parents invited us over for some fried chicken tonight. Godson's poppa (a.k.a. secret lover) sure knows how to fry his chicken - better than KFC for sure!!

The best treat of all though was watching Justin Beiber's 'Never Say Never' movie. I am now even more of a bielber.

wahhhhh..

My godson's momma went on a 10-day Alaskan cruise with her family and brought me back some goodies! 10 plus days of not seeing her and my godson felt like forever.  Though the goodies weren't technically for me but for the baby moose, I was happy to have received my first baby gift. Thank you godson's mama!

I have to admit though - I'm sorta sad because I know that moving forward, I'll be receiving and buying gifts mainly for the baby moose. Selfish, I know. Wahhhhhh...

Alameda Flea Market...

It happened to be the Alameda Flea Market this 4th of July weekend and since I've always wanted to go, I made the hubby join me for a trip there. We weren't competing with the professional antique fair goers so we arrived around 12:30 pm when there were less people and when the admission was only 5 bucks per person. Not sure if that was a good idea though because it was so damn hot! I didn't leave with anything but sunburned shoulders and horrible tan lines. Nonetheless, it was a fun trip and the fair definitely had lots of potential items to purchase in the future.
