hello stranger!

Wow, has it been 4 months since my last post?! What have I been doing besides caring for the lil monster Avery who, by the way is turning the big ONE next week! Yikes! I think it's time I start blogging about my waste of space life again.

But first, in the spirit of Halloween, I'd like to share this pumpkin dance:

I still don't know what Avery and Shady will be dressed as this year for Halloween...ideas?

These are the best chocolates from Napa Valley. There was no note, but I had an idea who sent this to me for my birthday. It wasn't the hubs - for sure. I love this person to death, but she is trying to sabotage me. Tonight, I ate 4. Tomorrow I will eat 5.

growing pains.

Avery has been sleeping in our room in her cousin's co-sleeper since she was born. When she turned 3 months, I said I would move her over to her own room and her own crib. But then 4 months passed, 5 months, then 6 months. I just wasn't able to let her go and wanted her next to me. After her bath Wednesday night (when she turned 7 months exactly) she fell asleep in her crib. I decided to leave her in there just to see what happens. Surprisingly, she was able to sleep through the night on her own! She's been sleeping in there since. Though I know I should be happy that I won't need to put her through sleep training, I am actually a little bit sad. The room feels empty without her. Am I suffering from baby empty nest syndrome? Well, I guess finally we can put the monitor to use. Kinda creepy, no?

berkeley fun.

An old highschool friend of mine was in town for her brother's graduation from UC Berkeley so I met up with her for lunch around that area today. I haven't been near the campus in awhile and was pleasantly surprised to see how many new shops and restaurants have opened up since ..... I can't remember when.  After our mediterranean lunch, we hopped over to Ici ice cream shop for some dessert and boy was it yummy! I got the brown sugar gingersnap and it was love at first bite. Their homemade cone had chocolate on the bottom, just like a drumstick! I'm definitely going back to try more flavors. Avery was a little upset that I didn't share with her.

Happy 7 months!

Our lil chubbs turned 7 months old today. Sigh... she's growing too fast! Happy 7 months lil one!

Since I didn't get anything for mother's day (LAME), I told the hubs that I'm going to buy something for myself. I'm thinking of a monogramed necklace with the letters A and S for Avery and Shady. These are so cute:

We went to Stockton to celebrate my niece Serena's 8th birthday today.  I had just told my cousins that Avery hadn't pooped for two days and then when Serena's mom lifted her out of the infant seat, this happened:

My poor cousin got poop smeared all over her hand. hahaha Talk about blowout. Avery thought it was funny. Us not so much. My nephew (and Shady) in the background said "wow, that's a lot of poop...."
Babies. Humph.

My godson's mama and I took Jaxsie and Avery to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo this afternoon. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, we only had 30 minutes to roam the park. haha We didn't know they closed earlier on weekdays. Oops! Nonetheless, we managed to ride the carousel twice and see a few goats and mini horses. It was really hot anyway so we probably wouldn't have stayed for too long. We'll be back again soon since we have our annual passes. Avery didn't seem as excited as her mommy to be there (especially the smell of churros!). Maybe when she's a little older? I can't wait to take her to Disneyland!

The baby shat big time last night on our bedsheets. So we had to go sheetless. Shieeeeeeeeet, as Senator Clay Davis always said in The Wire. If you guys haven't seen that show, I highly recommend it.

I had a wonderful time hanging out with my god daughter and her mama today. We met at Santana Row for tea then visited our usual shops in the usual order - Anthropologie, Lululemon, and Papersource. We then headed to Mitsuwa for some mochi and ramen at the Japanese grocery store Mitsuwa and saw this sign in the produce section:

The hubs is in Chicago all week for a business trip and I am left all by myself...with the babies. I better get a damn good mother's day gift.

Ever since Avery was born, my parents finally agree that having a computer (and access to the internet!) is a necessity. They make use of the webcam and skype/msn practically everyday to see their precious granddaughter. It is so funny to watch them on the other side trying to figure out how to maximize the chatting screen window or how to scan photos and such. My mom even enjoys using the facebook account I set up for her awhile back and is sometimes more up to date than I am on current fb status updates. Even my 94 year old grandma skypes with us. Go figure.

It's the hubby's 34th birthday today. The four of us had a low key celebration dinner at Cheesecake Factory.  Man, we're getting old. No more elaborate surprise birthday parties anymore! Sorry hubs - maybe next year. Happy Birthday!
