welfare mommy

The baby moose and I have officially been approved for Medi-cal! I am now a welfare mommy. Not that it is something to brag about but hey.. hopefully I'll only have to brag about this once in my lifetime. Fingers crossed.

Who knew how strict it would be when applying for government sponsored health services. Due to our "assets" compared to other applicants,  I'm only eligible for pregnancy related medical coverage. So if I fell and cracked my head, I still would have no insurance to cover the medical costs for the cracked head. But they will check to see if the baby moose is ok. I guess that's better than nothing?!

it's britney, bitch!

My wonderful BFF bought me yet another awesome birthday present this year - tickets to Britney's Femme Fatale concert at Staples Center! Though Britney will never be like her younger self (think back to I'm a Slave for you), she still rocked and managed to entertain us two pregger ladies. The muscle men backup dancers definitely kept me entertained as well.

While waiting for Britney to come out on stage, we noticed Paris Hilton walking by with her sister Nicky in tow. I guess she was also there to support her once best friend Brit Brit. Though I'm not a fan of Paris, it was fun to catch a glimpse of the not-sure-why-she's-famous reality starlet. I felt bad for her sister Nicky though because no one was calling out her name. So to make her feel better, I started calling out her name. But I don't think she heard me.

today was a good day..

The BFF took us for a tour of her and her cub's new Silverlake pad this morning and boy, was it scrumptious! Here, a preview from the backyard deck:

Soon, the renovations will be over and done with and they'll be able to move in. We can't wait for their housewarming party!

Following the tour, we had brunch at Cafe Stella, a cute little place nearby and then cupcakes at Lark Cake Shop, also right around the corner. I got the Chocolate Mocha Cupcake below, and this lil guy was just as scrumptious as the BFF's new home. Silverlake is full of wonderful surprises! So glad the BFF is moving to this neighborhood.

In the evening, we met up with an old high school friend and his wife, who also happens to be preggers. We all chatted over burgers, sweet potato fries, truffle fries, smushed potatoes (fries) and beer (water for me. boo) at Umami Burger, which was phenomenal! I was so hungry by the time the food came out that I forgot to snap some photos! Thankfully, I heard an Umami was opening up in San Francisco, so I will be able to take some photos when I visit that one.

 
As Ice Cube says, today was a good day.

reunited...

And it feels so good! After 6 months of being apart, I finally met up with my godson and his momma at our usual location this afternoon. My gosh, babies grow up fast!!! He's starting to look more like his momma now. Yay! My godson is so frikin' cute. I've missed them both!

He was not happy with his little doggy backpack leash thingy though as you can tell in the photo ... We had to remove it after about a minute or so.

Rock on..

We accompanied my godson's parents to the U2 concert tonight. Finally, a concert I went to where I didn't feel too old. This was also the first concert the hubby and I attended together! Oh, and the baby moose as well. I'm hoping s/he will be a natural music prodigy because rock stars are awesome. And I could be a stage mom. Think Britney..Justin Bieber..Beyonce.. Ha.
